The definition of fashion has changed for men now; They wear trendy looks and make all the effort to look chic and fabulous. Designers have re-designed the entire attires and have made them look awesome. One such accessory that was earlier seen with disgrace is now a sign of sensuality and style. Bow ties they are! Earlier wearing a bowtie would put a stamp of a geek looking idiot on you and no one would even want to date or marry such a guy. But now bowties are worn by the celebrities and they look cool, paradoxically they look hot! Bowties have been worn by men for centuries. It has been reported that the bowtie was first worn in the 17th century. Bow ties are also called dickie bow, meaning a tie worn by men. Bow ties are mostly worn with formal attire, likely on a suit or dinner jacket. Bow tie is made with ribbon fabric and is tied around the neck with the help of the ribbon attached with the bow. Now day’s bow ties are already shaped out with a clip that needs to be clipped to the collar. But a traditional bowtie comprises of a cloth that has to be tied around the neck by the wearer. These are also referred to as “tie to tie”, “freestyle” and “self tie”. Bowties are usually made of silk, as it gives a very sleek and shiny look, but other material including cotton, polyester and even wool is used to make them. The traditional bow ties are of fixed length and have specific neck size from 14 to 20. The neck size of a bow tie is same as the color size of a formal shirt. Bow ties got their first big break with famous wearers Albert Einstein and Winston Churchill. But not, everyone remembers them in good words. The young generation got attracted to bow ties when they were worn by some character of the TV series “Gossip Girls”, the characters were seen wearing bow ties to social events and gatherings. Well, this was the time when bow tie hit the right notes with the teenagers as one is more fascinated by a young, hip teenager with multiple romantic dalliances than a scientist or politician for a matter of fact. After this show, there were numerous other shows where characters were seen wearing bow ties. In fact famous fashion designers including Manolo Blahnik and Karl Lagerfeld, and even the San Francisco Giants pitcher, Tim Lincecum, were also spotted wearing silk bow ties. People from every walk of life can be seen wearing bow ties including lawyers, architects, professors and attorneys. Bow ties have also gained popularity in the world of politics; in fact bow ties were sign of political support for Sir Donald Tsang in Hong Kong. Men are seen wearing bow ties to official and family gatherings and cocktail parties. Bow ties are now a symbol of class and elegance personified. So after all this, if your wardrobe is missing bow ties, its high time rush out get a bow tie for yourself.
